CROWNS IN A DAY

What is a crown?

A crown is a false tooth created when your tooth is cracked, has an old filling or is severely decayed to create a smoother look and enhance strength, durability and aesthetics. A crown is often recommended by your dentist. The crown strengthens and protects the remaining tooth structure and can improve the appearance of your smile. 'Crowns in a Day@StephenGreenDentalStudio' can then offer you the option of having your crown fitted in approximately 4 hours.

Crowns in a day is a fast digital concept widely used for simple cases, it is usually not suitable for patients with more complex dental needs.

How does it work?

First the dentist will examine the tooth and determine the appropriate treatment. It could be a simple filling, or a full crown depending on how much healthy tooth structure is remaining. Next, an anaesthetic is administered and your tooth is prepared for the restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue.

Dental restorative methods require more than one visit to the dentist but with this technique we can cut down the time for your visit to less than half a day. This means that on the first visit, you get an injection of anesthesia, your tooth is prepared and an impression taken, and a temporary restoration put on your tooth. You will then bring the impression to the lab where we will make a model from your impression and design and manufacture your crown using our State-of-the-Art digital and computerised systems.

What else can we do?

We can also take your shade and customise your tooth at this stage for a small extra cost. We will have you out of the lab in about 1 hour. Your second appointment follows this as you return to the dentist, where you will have the temporary removed and have the permanent restoration cemented permanently in place.
